He Intoxicates Me

By Macy Farmer

A feeling of familiarity stirs deep inside…

As a stranger walks in the room and catches my eye…

Unable to see his face as he quietly strolls by…

His beauty enchants me…

And as if for the very first time…

My soul feels alive.

Thoughts of him still in the front of my mind…

A feeling we’ve met before…

I wait biding my time…

To get a glimpse of his face…

Of his eyes.

When the day finally arrives…

His eyes take hold of mine…

Unprepared for the beauty I would find…

I’m mesmerized…

Willingly I’m trapped by his sexy blue eyes.

His smile sparks a fire deep within…

Leaving me intoxicated…

My mind clouded… Wanting…

Longing to reach out to touch him.

A man with a trenchant wit…

Wise beyond his years…

A voice that drives me wild…

Leaving me breathless with every word…

It’s for him my body cries out and yearns.

At the end of my day…

The good especially the sad…

I fight the urge to tell him about it…

Dangerous…

Easily with just one look…

He has me rambling…

All my words… Written or spoken…

Come rushing out when I talk to him.

Intoxicating…

Everything about him…

Cogitating about my chances to be with a man of his magnitude…

My mind plays tricks on me…

Leading me to believe things I shouldn’t be…

Does he feel the same desire as I…

Would he want to be mine.

Our hearts belonging to others…

A reality I will eventually be forced to face…

Still my desire to be near him grows…

Fueled by the effects of my intoxication…

My fire inside explodes…

An uncontrollable blaze has taken it’s place.

The hidden truth escaping from deep within…

Opening my eyes…

Making me realize…

He could never truly be mine…

Still unable to walk away…

I wait dreading…

Knowing he will be the first to say goodbye.

Through no ones fault but my own…

My heart will shatter into pieces…

My tears will fall…

The pain will be unlike anything I’ve known.

Had we met in a different place…

Maybe a different time…

Motivated by a sense of destiny…

I’d do everything to make him mine.

My heart and soul would be his…

I would want no other…

Erasing the pain of his past…

Filling his life with joy and happiness…

He’ll only have eyes for me…

Our love unlike no other…

Would be one that lasts forever.

Intoxicated…

Our souls finally back where they belong…

With each other…

Reaching their final destination…

They’re home.
